We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me.My heart was pounding with complicated feelings when I saw him choking up with tears welling up in his eyes. Without hesitation, I reached out my hands to grasp his. He looked up into my eyes. I smiled at him, “David, we may all face times when we meet difficult challenges, but we should live to feel the wind blow our feather, not to be stuck by branches. I believein you!” Hearing my words, his little face lit up a little bit. His eyes began to sparkle like diamonds, “I want to run!”
I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners.Out dashed David with the sound of the starting gun. Step by step, he dragged his legs with great efforts, though he fell behind others a lot. Looking at him, I was sure that there was something glorious shining in his eyes.I knew it was the grace of determination. It seemed like a century later when he finally crossed the finish line. The crowd burst into roars of loud applauseand a bright smile crossed David’s face. Everyone present was impressed by his perseverance.
