If you agree(同意),pleasesay “yes ”.If you don’t agree, please say “no ”.

I did it .
A. myself B. yesterday C. carefully D.again
She said I was not strong enough but I did it .
A. myself B. yesterday C. carefully D. again
Failure(失败)told me that Iwas not too careful then,so I did it to see the result.
A.myself B.yesterday C.carefully D.again
Failure is the mother of success. The famous saying encouraged me. I did it _____.
A.myself B.yesterday C.carefully D.again

相处,scored(动词)得到……
man,hammering的含义。
He had a habit of telling jokes.
In a word where I have to work with my hands. I’d do poorly.
I had an auto-repair man once, who,on these intelligence tests, could not possibly have scored more than 80.Yet, when anything went wrong with my car I hurried to him…
如:…when anything went wrongwith my car I hurried to him---and he always fixedit.
When I was in the army I received an intelligence test that allsoldiers took, and, against an averageof 100,scored 160.
如:…he put two fingers together on the counter and made hammeringmovements with the other hand. The clerk brought him a hammer.
Well,Doc, the nextman who came in was blind.
Byevery one of them I’d prove myself a fool.
I had an auto-repair man once, who,on these intelligence tests, couldnot possiblyhave scored more than 80.
2、选A。
10、选A。 The clerk brought him a hammer一句已经表示了“拿”这一动作。
13、选A。
14、选A。
空应填smart(机灵的)。

A
new study by researchers from the Monell Chemical Senses Center found
that the different ways we experience smells is in our DNA. Published in
theProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the study found that small ___41___in just one olfactory(嗅觉的)receptor gene can affect how strong or pleasant an odor is for one person.
Every person's nose has about 400 different types of ___42___sensor proteins, known as olfactory receptors. One smell can ___43___several
different of these receptors, and receptors can be activated by several
different smells. The brain interprets these receptor activation
patterns to ___44___millions (maybe trillions) of different smells.
"We
still know very little about how olfactory receptors translate
information from an odor molecule into the perception of an odor's ___45___, intensity, and pleasantness,' said senior author Joel Mainland, Ph.D., an olfactory neurobiologist at Monell,in a news release. "By ___46___how variation in an olfactory receptor gene changes odor perception, we can begin to understand the ___47___of each receptor. This ___48___will help us learn how the receptors work together so that we can decipher the olfactory code and digitize olfaction."
For the study, researchers asked 332 people to rate how they ___49___the intensity and pleasantness of nearly 70 odors. Researchers also collected DNA ___50___from all the participants. They used genetic information to identify people who had broken___51___of
certain receptors and compared their odor reception to people who had
normal versions of the same receptor. They wanted to find out if the
same odor appeared more pleasant or not as ___52___ or both.
Scientists were surprised to find that a change in a single gene could inspire ___53___ in how people perceived the same smell.
"Because most odors activate several receptors, many scientists thought that ___54___one receptor wouldn't make a difference in how we perceive that odor. Instead, our work ___55___that is not the case and changes to a single receptor can make a big difference in how you perceive an odor," said Mainland.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that adults do at least 150 minutes ofmoderate to higher-intensityphysical activity each week, and it should be in___41___of at least 10 minutes each for substantial health benefits.Which has led many to ___42___about the inefficacy of brief activities. Why take two minutes going up the stairs if more than 10 minutes is ___43___ to make it worthwhile for health?
But now a study suggests something else: go ahead, take the stairs! Every minute ___44___toward reaching the 150-minute goal, whether it's part of a 10-minute bout or not.The
purpose of the study conducted at the University of Utah was to see if
moderate to vigorous physical activity in less than 10-minute episodes ___45___to weight outcomes. The study, published in theAmerican Journal of Health Promotion, found that each minute spent ___46___in some kind of moderate to vigorous physical activity — be itwalking the dog, vacuuming, or taking the stairs — was ___47___with lower BMI and lower weight.
"The
idea here is, you can do a minute at a time and that's not a problem,"
Jessie Fan, lead author of the new paper and a family and consumer
studies professor at the University of Utah, told Today.
For
the women who participated in the study, each minute spent in
higher-intensity activity was associated with a .07 drop in body mass
index (BMI). For a 5'4" woman, that means a loss of nearly half a pound,
which may not sound like much, but that's just for one minute. They add
up.
The authors concluded that the current 10-minute ___48___boutsguideline was based on health benefits other than weight outcomes and that their findings showed that for weight gain ___49___, accumulated higher-intensity physical activity bouts of less than 10 minutes are quite ___50___, supporting the message that "every minute counts."
When
it comes to your brain, that mantra also rings true. An April 2019
study in Jama Network Open looked at how exercise affected the brain,
and even short bursts ___51___.22% greater brain volume.
"Our study results don’t discount ___52___or vigorous physical activity as being important for healthy ageing. We are just adding to the science, ___53___that
light-intensity physical activity might be important too, especially
for the brain," Dr. Nicole Spartarno, first author of the study from
Boston University,told The Guardian.
"I think it's easier for people to ___54___that message," Fan says. "Otherwise, if they don't have a block of time they might be___55___, and they don't do anything."

A number of people were not impressed with my recent post,What will happen when 20% of the population is over 65?One person wrote that it was offensive, "It's so ___41___and stereotyped it's mind boggling that you would include it. Are you on a mission to help ___42___ discrimination against older people?"
Actually, the intent was the exact ___43___. In that post and in most of the posts I write, I'm trying to focus ___44___on the demographic issue of what happens in about 10 years, when the baby boomers start ___45___their
80s in serious numbers, and was trying to use the example of what's
happening in Japan now as a way of anticipating what might happen in
North America.
In 1968, Simon and Garfunkel released the "Bookends" album with the song "Old Friends" which includes the lines:
Can you ___46___us years from today,
Sharing a park bench quietly
How terribly strange to be seventy ...
A lot has changed. Today's baby boomers are healthier and more ___47___than
ever, and most who are over 65 cannot even really be considered "old."
They certainly aren't sitting on park benches quietly. I'm one of them
at 66, so I'm certainly not on a(n)___48___to discriminate against my generation. Some have said we're in a(n)___49___middle age. Personally, I'm hoping this stage lasts a long time, but time is still against us. Camilla Cavendish writes in thepaywalled Financial Times:
"The
'Young-Old' are very active and healthy and productive — totally
different from 30 years ago," says Professor Takao Suzuki, professor of
gerontology at Tokyo's JF Oberlin University, who ___50___Young-Old as 60 to 75 — or older. "The World Health Organization defines 'old' as 65: but as gerontologists, our main ___51___is with the 'Old-Old', who are very different".
The
Old-Old have very different needs from the Young-Old, and soon there
are going to be a lot of them. My point in the post is that we have to
get ready for that moment, and the time to start doing this is now, not
10 years from now.
I suspect the paragraph in my post that was ___52___offensive
was the second one, where I imagine "untold millions of them [baby
boomers], clogging the exits of the subways, blocking sidewalks and bike
lanes with their walkers and mobility devices. Millions of drivers like
my late mom, who would ___53___the middle of two lanesslowly because itscaredher when people passed her."
This was, in fact, a(n) ___54___of the reality that our transit systems need more escalators and elevators, that our sidewalks need widening, and that we need ___55___to cars for the vast numbers of Old-Old people in the USA in 10 years.
